The test setup:
PhotoFast GMonster 533x Plus Professional CompactFlash 32GB, PF32G533P
Hama 55352 CF FireWire reader, Oxford FW 912 controller
TI TSB82AA2/TSB81BA3 FireWire, TI OHCI 1394 Driver
Read/Write directly from/to the media, no filesystem involved
Read/Write rates taken with a sample size of 4MB, 7684 samples
The test showed an average trasfer rate of 79.34MB/s (541x) read and 54.39MB/s (371x) write.
The test setup:
PhotoFast GMonster 533x Plus Professional CompactFlash 32GB, PF32G533P
CF to SATA adapter with Marvell 88SA8040-TBC1 controller
ICH6R SATA Host
Read/Write directly from/to the media, no filesystem involved
Read/Write rates taken with a sample size of 4MB, 7684 samples
Important note: The CF SATA adapter logs in all UDMA-6 cards at UDMA-5 only, which seems to be the highest supported mode by the adapter. While UDMA-5 should still allow up to 95MB/s, there is already a significant loss in performance with this card.
The test showed an average rate of 70.96MB/s (484x) read and 67.07MB/s (547x) write.
The test setup:
PhotoFast GMonster 533x Plus Professional CompactFlash 32GB, PF32G533P
Express/34 CF Adapter DR25, JMicron JMB368 Controller
Read/Write directly from/to the media, no filesystem involved
Read/Write rates taken with a sample size of 4MB, 7684 samples
The test showed an average trasfer rate of 87.14MB/s (594x) read and 79.05MB/s (539x) write.
More information will follow, see the Explanations for the Special Tests for details regarding the test procedure.
